What are some movies that are worth spending $8.00 on for a ticket? I'm looking mainly for action/suspense movies. Not some cheap cartoon'd movie like "Alvin and the Chipmunks". (I watched three minutes of it and I left the theater.)

I'd suggest "I Am Legend." It's not for everyone though, so please use your discretion when it comes to movie choices. For the girls, I'd probably suggest the comedy movie "Juno." Yes, the whole concept of the movie is a bit... off, but it's sweet and funny. I didn't even bother watching the trailer for Chipmunks. XD

I've heard "national treasure" is a great great movie, but i haven't watched it myself. seems to be getting OK reviews. the books are always better than the movies. that would apply to "i am legend" as well. in the book, it is written half from the main character's POV, part from the monsters' POV. so to the monsters, the main character is a legend. really osm.

mm... Contrary to what Cathy says, I've actually heard that National Treasure wasn't that great. Apparently the same plot, same character kind of thing doesn't work with everyone.

You actually tried watching alvin and the chipmunks? the chipmunks look weird and scary in the picture I saw of it. The Golden Compass was pretty good, but I suggest you read the book first. Supposedly I am Legend is good too, but I haven't read the book or watched the movie.

nice attempt for an excuse, mingtao.
but if ur not into movies, and would rather rent a dvd and watch a movie at home w/ ur besties, "The Italian Job" is a wonderful piece. (I've only seen the new one, but it rocks...I'm obsessed with it). And for girls, "Legally Blonde" never gets old. I've watched it over 20 times. Mean Girls gets old after the 3rd time, but I swear Legally Blonde is just amazing. But NOt Legally Blonde 2. That one makes me cry its so bad. And besides that... "A Christmas Story" is hilarious...u kno the one about the kid who wants a rifle for christmas but everyone says he'll shoot his eye out, and when he gets one he does =P
