All right, here is a brief explanation for all of the ranks:

Administrator - Person who manages the entire site. Not to be messed with.
Global Moderator - An admin's best friend. He has powers like an admin, but he cannot create new forums, or do anything to you in particular. They can ban users, lock topics/delete topics, etc.
Moderator - They manage a specific section. They are only limited to that section.
Student Council - No extra priviliges; just student council.
VIP - Favored in the staff and they get access to Area 51.
Contributer - someone who has contributed to the forum gets special access.
